Pop Academy Digital Live Concert for World Refugee Day 2021

15. June 2021

On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, Popakademie Baden-Württemberg will stream a live concert on the Popakademie Instagram account starting at 8 pm. The "Work In Progress Club" event will take place in cooperation with and for the benefit of UN Refugee Aid, in light of World Refugee Day on June 20 and the #withrefugees campaign.

"For many years, the Popakademie has been an institution of tolerance and freedom in its attitude to diversity and in its understanding of difference for all who study, lecture or work at our institution - regardless of their origins, backgrounds, religious or ideological beliefs and sexual orientation. We therefore dedicate this Work in Progress Club to World Refugee Day and show our solidarity with all those who oppose racism and the restriction of tolerance and respect," explains Prof. Udo Dahmen, Artistic Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie.

The concert, featuring students and alumni from the Popakademie artistic department, will be broadcast live from the Popakademie as well as the musicians' studios. It will be broadcast via the Popakademie's Instagram channel. The performances will draw attention to the work of the UN Refugee Agency. Laura Lato and newcomers The Nookies and Zena Dala will perform on the digital stage.
"The Pop Academy is a great and dedicated partner for UN Refugee Assistance. With the concert for World Refugee Day the musicians of the Popakademie are doing a great job of implementing our campaign motto 'We become loud, we become visible, we stand together #withrefugees'. We stand together for more humanity, solidarity with refugees and against xenophobia. We are looking forward to dedicated young artists, their music," says Peter Ruhenstroth-Bauer, Executive Director of UN Refugee Aid Germany.
