Finding and Using Media

The Popakademie’s library is a thematically organised reference library that reflects the Academy’s role as a competence centre for popular music and music business. In the last several years, we have aquired plenty of treasures - from books and periodicals, to audio recordings and movies. Our media include relevant academic reference material, prominent industry magazines, sound recordings and ressources, as well as course specific publications and journals.

Borrowing Media

It is possible to work in the reading room on the 3rd floor. In the foyer of the Popakademie, next to the main entrance, there is a white book return box where borrowed books and magazines can be returned at any time. As the media library is a reference library, books can only be borrowed overnight or, on Fridays, over the weekend. Books must then be returned on the next working day or on Mondays. For multiple editions, books can be borrowed for one week. If a medium is required for a longer period for final theses such as Bachelor's or Master's theses, this can be requested from the head of the respective department.

National Licenses

The Popakademie Baden-Württemberg has access to certain electronic media such as periodicals and databases, thanks to the funding programme “Interregional Library Services and National Licences” of the German Research Foundation (DFG). These services are activated through DBIS and EZB and are made possible by the following institutions:
  • Bavarian State Library
  • Lower Saxony State and University Library
  • Technical Information Library
  • Leibniz Information Centre for Economics
  • DFG National Licences
