Statement on current developments

The Popakademie sees itself as an institution that stands for diversity, difference, tolerance and freedom. We are very concerned about the strengthening of extremist ideas in Germany and support every civic commitment to our democracy, as is currently being expressed throughout the country and on 27.01.24 also in Mannheim.
As a higher education institution, the Popakademie is committed to political neutrality. The free democratic basic order and the principles underlying the Basic Law, on the other hand, are not a political issue - rather, they form the basis for social coexistence and every form of education in Germany. This means that a higher education institution like ours has an explicit obligation to support these important values.
