Prof. Hubert Wandjo, former Business Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, and Prof. Dr. Alexander Endreß, Head of the Music Business B.A. Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, are jointly publishing the book "Künstlerentwicklung und Künstlermanagement in der Musikwirtschaft" (Artist Development and Artist Management in the Music Industry) at Nomos Verlag.

This latest issue of the "Music and Business" series deals with artist development and artist management in the music industry. The aim of the book is to shed light on some of the many facets of music business activities that lie directly at the intersection of the music industry and the arts. In keeping with the tradition of the series, the special quality of the publication lies in the practical relevance of the individual topics. These are divided into the sections "Basics for understanding the practical field of artist development and management", "The field of interaction between artists and managers" and "Artist development and artist management as a practical task". The authors work in the music industry and also teach in the Department of Music and Creative Industries:

"When conceptualizing this book, our initial question was: Who is involved in the development process of artists?" says Alexander Endreß. It very quickly becomes clear that this cannot be reduced to artist managers or A&R managers in labels alone. Rather, it must be taken into account that there are many opportunities to work artistically in the field of music. "Strictly speaking, artist development takes place in every link of the music industry value chain. Accordingly, many facets, though by no means all of them, have been highlighted in the articles," continues Endreß. This book is therefore to be understood as a building block of a field that still needs to be dealt with in a much more fundamental way and represents a contribution to its scientific foundation.

The publication series "Music and Business" was created in 2009 in cooperation with Nomos Verlag and is edited by Prof. Dr. Alexander Endreß.

Previously published volumes:
