Popacademics with Federal President Steinmeier in Ireland

27. October 2021

When German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier travels to Ireland on a state visit from October 27 to 29, 2021, artists from the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg will also be there. The Popacademy's Alex Mayr and Luca Sestak will be part of the cultural program on October 28 at the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin.

In the capital Dublin, the German head of state will be received by Irish President Michael D. Higgins at his official residence. President Steinmeier will also meet Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin, the Speaker of the House of Commons and the Lord Mayor of Dublin for talks.

Luca Sestak is a pianist and singer studying pop music design at the Popacademy. At a young age, he drew attention on YouTube with his extraordinary talent on the piano, on which he played mainly boogie-woogie pieces with virtuosity. This helped him over the years to become more and more famous, so that he could also play concerts internationally. Luca Sestak has released two albums so far.

Alex Mayr is a singer-songwriter and graduate of the Pop Music Design program at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. Together with Konrad Henkelüdeke, also a graduate in pop music design, the Mannheim native has been successfully making music for years and has released two albums, as well as two EPs. She also wrote the soundtrack to the film "Wir können nicht anders" by Detlev Buck.

The performance was arranged by the Popacademy's own artist agency KLINKT, which has been helping solo musicians, bands and producers at the pop academy to stage live events or music marketing projects since 2007. In previous years, KLINKT has already arranged for artists to perform at the German President's Summer Festival in Berlin.
