Popakademie draws positive conclusion to hybrid Future Music Camp

27. May 2022

With more than 800 registrations, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg draws a positive balance for the first hybrid edition of the Future Music Camp on May 19 and 20, 2022. The hybrid extension was funded by the Initiative Musik.

"This year, the Future Music Camp again took place with an audience at the Popakademie: a successful live experience! The high number of registrations for both on-site and online participation and the consistently positive response shows that a hybrid concept is forward-looking. This encourages us to continue integrating digital components in the future," explains Prof. Hubert Wandjo, Business Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg.

International speakers were connected for their keynotes, e.g. from the USA and Portugal. The livestream was available to viewers via YouTube, and the topics were discussed intensively online. A large number of participants took advantage of the networking opportunities both on site and online. The keynotes will be published afterwards on the YouTube channel of the Popakademie.

The curated part of the Future Music Camp revolved around selected topics of the music industry, including the concept of the "Artist Economy". Sessions covered topics such as music and mental health, live culture, metaverse, digital collaborations, and sustainability in the music industry.

The Future Music Camp started in 2009, at that time as a barcamp for the music industry, and has established itself as a modern conference format for executives and young professionals from the music and creative industries. With the Future Music Camp, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg networks experts from the field with students from relevant disciplines such as music, media, culture and creative industries. The person responsible is David Stammer, Project Manager Digital Innovation, who also moderates the Future Music Camp.

This project was supported by the Initiative Musik with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
