Popakademie draws a positive conclusion to the digital Future Music Camp

20. April 2021

With over 1,300 registrations, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg draws a positive balance for the first digital edition of the Future Music Camp on 15 and 16 April 2021.

"The high registration numbers and the great amount of virtual interaction have shown that a digital concept reaches interested audiences. This edition was able to reflect the forward-looking character of the Future Music Camp. The consistently positive response encourages us to integrate digital components in the future as well," explains Prof. Hubert Wandjo, Business Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg.

The digital edition of the Future Music Camp succeeded in integrating a variety of different platforms. International speakers held their keynotes at the Popakademie as well as online, this Livestream was available to viewers via YouTube. Many of the registered participants took advantage of the possibility of neworking via the virtual platform Gather.town.

At the end of the first day, the digital after-show party with BUSH BATANG was streamed live via Twitch from the Popakademie. Up to 120 people per session took part in the Zoom sessions held by participants.

David Stammer, responsible for content, and Steffen Geldner, former Future Music Camp project manager, jointly moderated the edition.

The curated part of the Future Music Camp revolved around, among other things, the future of the label and streaming, NFTs and fake streams. The sessions covered topics such as hybrid concerts, product development, podcasts or promotion.

The Future Music Camp started in 2009 as the first bar camp for the music industry and has established itself as a modern conference format for executives and young professionals from the music and creative industries. As the organiser of the camp, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg connects experts from the field with students from relevant disciplines such as music, media, culture and creative industries.
