Popakademie students receive Mannheim scholarship

20. December 2022

This year, the City of Mannheim is awarding the Mannheim Scholarship to two talented students at the Popakademie. Hannah Bechmann, a student in the Department of Music and Creative Industries, and Virginia Elif Fischer, a student in the Department of Popular Music, will receive the scholarship for the academic year 2022/23.

"The Mannheim Scholarship is a valuable contribution of the city of Mannheim to support the Popakademie and promote our students. We are proud that Hannah and Virginia Elif were selected and congratulate them warmly on this award," said Prof. Udo Dahmen and Michael Herberger at the awarding of the scholarships at the Work in Progress Club on Dec. 14, 2023.

The Mannheim Scholarship was created by the city of Mannheim to support future professionals and managers and to show their attachment to the university, college and Popakademie. Currently, the scholarship has been extended for the years 2023/24 and 2024/25.

The scholarship covers a period of two semesters and includes a monthly payment of 150 EUR per scholarship holder. Scholarship recipients are selected by a committee of the City of Mannheim, whereby performance, personal circumstances and social commitment are taken into account in the decision. The presentation of the scholarships traditionally takes place during the "Work in Progress Club" event series.

We wish Hannah and Virginia Elif every success for their future studies.
