Summer Break Sessions - Popakademie Concert at the Planetarium

Before the musicians head off for their summer break, there will be another week of live music starting on July 20, 2026: Through July 23, 2026, more than 40 bands will perform their live exams in the performance spaces of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg—open to the public with free admission. On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, two of the acts will perform at the Mannheim Planetarium.

Kat Kit is an artist who navigates between energetic, raw lines and fragile, breathy tones. With her eyes closed at the piano, she crafts cinematic landscapes of an introverted mind, interwoven with jazzy harmonies and unusual song structures, as delicate as open-heart surgery. In early 2024, Kat Kit will join the Bandpool, the flagship development program of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. It is aimed at acts that possess the creative talent, the necessary drive, and the professional discipline required to break through as successful musicians.
Last year, she was named Newcomer of the Year by “Local Heroes” and was featured by SWR, Deutschlandfunk, and on the show “Titel, Thesen, Temperamente,” among others. Using synths, a vocoder, and Auto-Tune, she creates a distinctive, playful sound to which her fragile voice lends a special touch.

HAIVE is a dark pop project from Mannheim that captivates listeners with a unique sound that blends delicate melancholy with intense energy. In 2025, the band wins the Talent Contest. At the heart of their sound is Eva Betzinger’s versatile voice, which moves effortlessly between vulnerability and strength—supported by deep bass, electronic sound design, and driving beats. The 26-year-old producer and singer-songwriter from the south of Munich is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Pop Music Design at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, with a focus on vocal performance and songwriting.
