Popakademie initiates new event
28. February 2025
The Popakademie Baden-Württemberg is realigning itself and is planning an innovative event for 2026 that combines elements of the two previous formats Future Pop from the field of popular music and Future Music Camp from the field of music and creative industries. The two events will no longer take place from this year onwards.
“We are delighted to be initiating this joint Popakademie event and to be able to network students from both departments even more closely with one another,” say the two managing directors Derek von Krogh and Michael Herberger. The Popakademie is developing a new, innovative event format. The aim is to use the synergies between the departments of Popular Music and Music and Creative Industries to create a platform that specifically networks the specialists and sought-after talents of tomorrow - both in the music business and on the artists' side - with companies from the music, media and cultural industries. By addressing current industry topics, a forum for exchange, inspiration and shaping the future is created. At the same time, concerts by selected artists will take place in and around the Popakademie. The new event will start in 2026. In 2025, there will be neither a Future Music Camp nor a Future Pop conference due to the current redesign. The Popakademie's Future Pop conference format has existed since 2009 and has focused on different topics each year, most recently Electronic Music in 2023 and the second Hip Hop Symposium in 2024.The Future Music Camp took place for the first time in 2009 in the style of a bar camp and initially set itself the task of bringing the then new digital skills to the music industry in order to contribute to the agility and openness to innovation of the music industry.
