Pop macht Schule Final Concert

In spring 2025, five schools from the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region visited the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg for the “Pop macht Schule” project. On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the students will present their results at the final concert in the Capitol Mannheim. This year, the project was carried out in cooperation with the Bülent Ceylan for Children Foundation.
Learning instruments, singing, writing lyrics, making your own beats and producing songs - popular music was on the curriculum of five selected schools in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region for one morning each in spring 2025. The aim of the project is to raise young people's awareness of the creative use of popular music at an early age. Making music together also promotes the social skills of the participants. This year's partner schools are Geschwister-Scholl-Realschule Mannheim, Maria-Montessori-Schule Mannheim, Friedrich Schiller Gemeinschaftsschule Hemsbach, Schloss-Schule Ilvesheim and the Pfalzinstitut für Hören und Kommunikation Frankenthal. At the big final concert on May 13, 2025 at the Capitol, the pupils will experience what it feels like to breathe the air of the stage in front of a large audience. The “Pop macht Schule” project (formerly “School of Rock”) was awarded the Baden-Württemberg State Teaching Prize in 2009. In 2010, the “School of Rock” was recognized as a “Landmark in the Land of Ideas”. Due to its integrative effect, the project was included in the German government's integration plan.
