Campaign "Kultur wählt Demokratie"

The Popakademie Baden-Württemberg is joining the “ Kultur wählt Demokratie” (“Culture chooses democracy”) campaign organized by the Association of Cities and Towns of Baden-Württemberg and the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts. The aim of the campaign is to strengthen the link between culture and democracy, as the two are inextricably linked.
“A diverse, colorful and equal cultural offering can only exist in a functioning democracy. Culture shapes the identity of a city, but is also essential for educational and integration work. If we lose our democratic values, we also weaken the power of culture - and we want to counteract this,” says Ralf Broß, Managing Director of the Association of Cities and Towns of Baden-Württemberg. “Art and culture help us to find our way back to a common language in order to restore civilized debate, which is essential in a democracy. Art and culture enable a change of perspective and lead to unfamiliar points of view. Art and culture make us deal with current social and political issues again and again.
