21. January 2026

A day full of music, information, and future prospects: on Saturday, February 7th 2026, the Popakademie in Mannheim will open its doors to music enthusiasts. Anyone interested in studying popular music or the music and creative industries can come and get to know the university from 1 p.m. onwards. On Friday, February 6th and Saturday, February 7th public and free concert exams will take place.

“We are delighted to welcome interested visitors to our campus and give them exciting insights into studying popular music and the music and creative industries. The information day is THE opportunity to get to know our university and talk to staff, lecturers, and students,” say the two managing directors Michael Herberger (business director) and Derek von Krogh (artistic director).

The focus is on the three bachelor's programs in Pop Music Design, Music Business, and Global Music, as well as the two master's programs in Popular Music and Music and Creative Industries. Program director Prof. Dr. Alexander Endreß provides information about the bachelor's program in Music Business. The two bachelor's programs, Global Music B.A. and Pop Music Design B.A., are also presented by Artistic Director Derek von Krogh and program director Prof. Dr. David-Emil Wickström. The master's programs will be presented by program directors Prof. Dr. Nina Schneider (Music and Creative Industries M.A.) and Prof. Annette Marquard (Popular Music M.A.). In addition, Business Director Michael Herberger and Artistic Director Derek von Krogh will give introductory lectures.
Major subject counseling is offered throughout the day for the Global Music B.A., Pop Music Design B.A., and Popular Music M.A. programs.

In addition, students, lecturers, and staff from the specialist, project, and competence areas are available to answer questions about the course content and the application process, provide individual advice to interested parties, and offer practical insights into studying at the Popakademie.

Since 2003, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg has been the only state-run higher education institution in Germany to offer degree programs in the fields of popular music and the music and creative industries. With a wide range of courses and a strong network in the music industry, the Popakademie has been offering the best conditions for a successful career in the music world for over 20 years.
