Future Music Camp digital: Call for Speakers

10. February 2021

On 15 and 16 April 2021, the Future Music Camp of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg will take place online. Experts from the digital music and media industry will discuss questions about the future of the label and debate developments in the streaming sector. This year's digital edition enables additional interaction in virtual space through an innovative format.

The Future Music Camp will be co-hosted by David Stammer, Project Manager Digital Innovation and responsible for the Future Music Camp, and his predecessor Steffen Geldner. To open the digital edition, David Stammer and Steffen Geldner will conduct a keynote interview on DIY strategies in the lo-fi hip-hop business with the artist SAIB.

In other confirmed keynotes, Johannes Middelbeck (Drive Beta) will address the development of formats for YouTube, TikTok and podcasts. Ruwen Warnke (Freelance Data Scientist Music) will demonstrate live how fake streams are created. Callum Caulfield (General Manager Good Soldier Records) will discuss modern music marketing. In her keynote, Tina Jürgens (Managing Director zebra-audio.net) will discuss why music and podcasts are a perfect match. Sophie Brüggemann (Data Lead Pearson) looks at playlist target groups from a behavioural science perspective and Simone Schiborr (Deezer Senior Manager Editorial & Label Relations) holds a live session on playlist pitching.

"After the Future Music Camp 2020 had to be cancelled due to the Corona pandemic, we are especially pleased to host the eleventh Future Music Camp digitally - for the first time with the possibility of exchange in a virtual space. Especially due to last year's developments, it is important to ask forward-looking questions and discuss developments in the streaming sector," explains Prof. Hubert Wandjo, Business Director and Managing Director of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg.

In addition to top-class national and international keynote speakers, there will again be sessions held by participants. Whether it is a discussion round, brainstorming session or workshop - the format will be determined by the participants themselves. Proposals can be submitted until 15 March.
All information on the sessions, examples from previous years, submission of proposals and registration online at: www.futuremusiccamp.de/sessions.

The Future Music Camp started in 2009 as the first bar camp for the music industry and has established itself as a modern conference format for executives and young professionals from the music and creative industries. As the organiser of the camp, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg connects experts from the field with students from relevant disciplines such as music, media, culture and creative industries.

Participation in the Future Music Camp is free of charge, registration under: www.futuremusiccamp.de/anmeldung/
