Bandpool act named favorite band at the Pop Culture Award

29. November 2023

On November 23rd 2023, the Prize for Pop Culture was awarded for the seventh time in Berlin. The association "Förderung für Popkultur e.V." awards its prizes in ten different categories, e.g. favorite artist, favorite band, favorite song and many more. The jury, consisting of players from the music industry, evaluates the talent of the participants and aims to guarantee fairness and transparency in the competition, whereby commercial success should not be the decisive factor.

In the Favorite Band category, former Bandpool act Provinz beat Brutalismus 3000, BUKAHARA, Gaddafi Gals and Tokio Hotel to take home the award.

Provinz was part of the 20th generation of the Bandpool, the top promotion program of the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg and is managed by music business graduate Niklas Otten. As part of the Bandpool, bands, solo artists and producers from all over Germany are coached and supported over 18 months during ten workshop weekends in Mannheim. The aim is to prepare them for their entry into the professional music business. Applications for the 26th generation are open until November 30.

The cooperation between the Popakademie and the Verein zur Förderung der Popkultur e.V. should also be mentioned. Last year, students from the Music and Creative Industries Master's program played a key role in the redesign of the voting process and this semester the collaboration will continue, this time with Bachelor's students from the Music Business department.
