Alex Mayr takes over the Bachelor Singer/Songwriter

09. December 2024

From the winter semester 2024/2025, Alex Mayr will be responsible for artistic/technical advice and project support for the singer/songwriters in the Bachelor's degree course in Popmusikdesign at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. The department is supported by Julia Nagele in the minor subject of singing and Peter Lagoda. Alex Mayr replaces Prof. Annette Marquard, who has been responsible for the artistic and technical supervision of the department since the Popakademie was founded in 2003.

“I am very pleased to hand over the Department of Singer/Songwriter Pop Music Design B.A. to Popakademie alumna Alex Mayr after more than 20 years. It's great that we were able to win Alex for this task, I wish her all the best! I have been working as an artistic/technical advisor and project supervisor since the Popakademie was founded and am now concentrating on my tasks at the Singer/Songwriter Department in the Master's program and as head of the Popular Music Master's program,” says Prof. Annette Marquard, head of the Popular Music M.A. program.

“I feel honored to be able to take on this task. It is versatile, exciting and simply different from writing albums and going on tour - and therefore a perfect complement to my life as a musician. Empowering and picking up young people is very fulfilling and I know that I will learn a lot from them myself and that this work will be inspiring for my own artistic work. I'm very excited and really looking forward to all the colorful minds and the many songs I'll be able to hear in the future,” says Alex Mayr, artistic/technical advisor and project manager for the Singer/Songwriter Department.
