Infoday - Popakademie informs about its study programs

03. February 2022

On Saturday, February 5, 2022, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg will virtually open its doors to the public from 3 pm. Course directors and lecturers from the departments of Popular Music and Music and Creative Industries will then provide information about the various courses of study. The info day was already successfully offered digitally in 2021. Due to the still ongoing current pandemic situation, the 2022 event will take place online and can be accessed via the Popakademie homepage.

The info day offers interested parties information about studying at the Pop Academy via video presentations and virtual conversations, as well as study advice from staff, lecturers and students. The focus is on the three Bachelor's programs Pop Music Design, Music Business and World Music as well as the two Master's programs Popular Music and Music & Creative Industries.
In addition, the Info Day will provide insights into the Pop Academy's project and competence areas.

Starting at 3 p.m., the two directors Prof. Udo Dahmen, Artistic Director, and Prof. Hubert Wandjo, Business Director, will present the Pop Academy. The program directors Prof. Alexander Endreß (Music Business B.A.) and Prof. David-Emil Wickström (Pop Music Design B.A. and World Music B.A.) will provide information about the Bachelor's programs. Taster lectures by Prof. Udo Dahmen and David Stammer, Project Manager Digital Innovation, offer a practical insight into the degree programs. Prof. Nina Schneider (Music and Creative Industries M.A.) and Prof. Heiko Wandler (Popular Music M.A.) will provide information about the master's programs. Alex Wolf will introduce the Institute for Music and Creative Industries Practice and Nils Max will inform about the academy's own artist agency KLINKT and the coaching program Bandpool.
Students Emma Thomas (Music Business B.A.) and Chris Hastrich (Pop Music Design B.A.) will lead a virtual tour of the Pop Academy and present the facilities and premises.
Lecturers available for individual consultation via the Zoom video conferencing platform include Anika Nilles and Thomas Lui Ludwig (drums), Prof. Annette Marquard (vocals), Prof. Peter Wölpl and Michael Koschorreck (guitar), Prof. Frank Itt (bass), Arno Müller (producing/DJing), Prof. Mathias "Maze" Leber (keyboard) and Prof. Alexander Paeffgen (composition). In the area of world music, lecturers Samir Mansour (oud), Murat Coskun (percussion), Kemal Dinc (Bağlama) and Muhittin Kemal (kanun) are available online for individual consultation.

Since 2003, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg has been the only state-run higher education institution in Germany to date to offer degree programs in popular music and music and creative industries. During the Corona crisis, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg massively expanded its existing online teaching offerings, resulting in excellent instruction, both in hybrid form and purely digital, throughout. Online events regularly attract international audiences and different learning platforms serve students for exchange.

Applications will be available starting Saturday 05.02. Application deadlines for the winter semester 2022/2023:
Popular Music Design B.A., Music Business B.A., World Music B.A.: April 30, 2022.
Popular Music M.A.: May 31, 2022
Music & Creative Industries M.A.: June 15, 2022
