World Drum Festival

At the World Drum Festival, drummers and percussionists from various world cultures meet at the Popakademie every November to make music, exchange ideas and network. In a mixture of workshops, master classes, panels and concerts, world-class soloists will introduce themselves to an interested audience of experts. They will showcase the current state of the art in the international drum and percussion scene. The event will take place for the tenth time in 2024.

On Saturday, November 30, 2024, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg is organizing the tenth World Drum Festival in cooperation with the Cultural Office of the City of Mannheim and the European drum and percussion association “Percussion Creativ”. This year's World Drum Festival is curated by Anika Nilles.

“I am delighted to be curating the anniversary edition of the World Drum Festival. We invite all interested drummers and percussionists to the World Drum Festival at the Popakademie”, says Anika Nilles, Artistic/Expert Advice & Project Support Drums at the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg.

Taking part this year are: Gergo Borlai (drums), Simon Gattringer (drums / hybrid), Martina Barakoska (drums), Arthur Dubois (drums / hybrid), Claudio Spieler (percussion), Melissa Hié (percussion).
