2. Bağlama-Symposium

The Popakademie Baden-Württemberg, the Mannheim Municipal Music School and the Mannheim State University of Music and Performing Arts are jointly organizing the second Mannheim Bağlama Symposium on Sunday, 8 December 2024 in the Börsensaal of the Mannheim Municipal Music School. Mannheim's Mayor for Education, Youth and Health, Dirk Grunert, will open the event as patron. Cooperation partners are the Baden-Württemberg State Music Council and the Oriental Music Music Academy Mannheim.

On December 8, 2024 from 12 noon, the Popakademie, the Mannheim Municipal Music School and the Mannheim University of Music invite you to the Bağlama Symposium in Mannheim. Erdal Erzincan, one of the best-known masters of this instrument, has been invited as a guest musician. The singer, multi-instrumentalist and bağlama player Derya Yıldırım will also be taking part, as will lecturers, students and alumni of the Popakademie's Global Music B.A. course.

The bağlama is the most important stringed instrument in Turkish music. Since 2015, the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg has offered a bachelor's degree course in Global Music (formerly World Music) with the bağlama as a major subject, and the Mannheim University of Music also offers a bachelor's degree course in teaching music at grammar schools with the bağlama as a major subject. Since 2012, the bağlama has been one of the instruments in the “Jugend musiziert” competition in Baden-Württemberg, in which the Mannheim Music School also takes part with its own bağlama ensemble.



Further cooperation partners of the symposium are the Baden-Württemberg State Music Council and the Oriental Music Academy Mannheim. The event is funded by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts.
