Music Business students develop ease.academy

27. July 2020

The digital marketing of music is more important than ever for artists in today's world. But how can still small unknown acts or music creators who want to be independent acquire the necessary and up-to-date know-how for their own online marketing? The marketing agency ease agency also asked itself this question and worked with four music business students for one semester on the conception and implementation of a digital further education program in the area of branding strategy and music marketing - the ease.academy.

For one semester, the four music business students Philipp Sonnenstrahl, Constantin Froh, Nico Becker and Bastian Romes worked on the conception of the ease.academy in the context of the project workshop, which is an elementary component of the practice-oriented Bachelor's program. After conducting a market and competitor analysis and an exact target group definition, the four students ventured into the prototype, the course "TikTok - Your new promotion channel". This included the development of the website on which the entire ease.academy is hosted, the creation of the speaker script and the actual production of the TikTok video. For the entire project process, the student group worked with the Design Thinking approach.

The project group was led by Marie Heimer, who was a student of one of the first years of the music business bachelor at the Popakademie in 2006. After seven years in artist marketing at Spotify, she has been running the ease agency together with the founder of the agency Malte Schröder since the beginning of 2019, advising acts such as Rammstein and Die Fantastischen Vier.
At https://ease.academy, anyone who wants to get a taste of the academy can register for the beta version and start directly with the TikTok course free of charge. Further modules about brand building, digital storytelling and release strategy will follow soon.
