The Popakademie Talks start on Tuesday, 16.04.2024. At 7 p.m. Marina Fischer will talk about the abuse of power at universities. She is a psychologist and systemic consultant. Fischer conducts research on working conditions in the arts and cultural sector as part of the doctoral program "Good Work in a Transformative World" at the Social Science Research Center Berlin and the Institute Gender in Medicine at Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Here she investigates young artists' experiences of abuse of power and violence in the context of their university education and early career phases. Fischer is particularly interested in the perspectives of (multiply) marginalized artists, in the connections between experiences of power abuse and mental health, and in power-sensitive prevention approaches for artistic teaching and learning contexts. In addition to her research, she is part of Themis Vertrauensstelle e.V., the independent nationwide counselling organization against sexualized violence in the cultural and media industry. Here, victims, witnesses and employers receive free legal and psychological support.
